Henry Martín believes he belongs in the Mexican national team

Though Club América found themselves in an injury crisis for most of the season, especially in the attacking third, perhaps the player that benefitted the most was Henry Martín.

Martín only featured for seven minutes through América’s first eight games of the season but the 26-year-old responded by scoring eight goals and providing three assists in their final 10 matches.

Now many supporters across Mexico have called for Martín to return to the national team. Martín has earned five caps during his career but has yet to feature under Gerardo Martino.

When asked about the subject, Martín advocated for himself and claimed that he is in the form of his life.

“ I believe that yes (I am in my best form). We are all having a great time, I am having a great time, I don’t know if it is the best, I just know that we are doing well.

“But this does not stop here, we have to keep raising our level and continue contributing with goals and assists.

“It is always my desire to play with El Tri and I work hard for that.”
