Alen Halilović, who was thought to once be the world’s next superstar, has joined his eighth club at just 23 years old.

On Monday, Dutch outfit SC Heerenveen announced they have acquired him on loan from AC Milan for the rest of the season.

Back in 2012 with Dinamo Zagreb at age 16, Alen Halilović looked to have the world at his feet when he became the then-second-youngest player in Champions League history.

Less than a year later, Halilović would become the youngest player to make his Croatian national team debut.

In 2014, less than a year after that, he would sign for Barcelona and it appeared Halilović was destined for greatness. However, that greatness never came, joining Sporting Gijón on loan before making a permanent switch to Hamburg.

He joined Milan on a free transfer in 2018 and made just three brief appearances for the club before being shipped off to Belgium’s Standard Liège for the second half of last season.
