Borussia Dortmund head coach Lucien Favre hasn’t ruled out Erling Haaland making his debut when they face FC Augsburg on Saturday.

Haaland is attempting to get back to full fitness after suffering from a knee problem, but Favre did not dismiss the possibility of a full debut for the Norwegian this weekend.

“It is possible,” Favre said in a press conference on Thursday.

“But I can’t say for sure yet.”

The 19-year-old completed his move to the Westfalenstadion from Red Bull Salzburg in January after Dortmund met the €20m release clause in his contract.

Anticipation is building for the first glimpse of Haaland in a Dortmund shirt, and sporting director Michael Zorc has been talking about the impact he could have on the team.

“We didn’t have a striker like that in our squad. He’s good for us.”

Haaland has become one of the hottest prospects in European football after netting 16 goals in 14 appearances in the Austrian Bundesliga earlier this season.
