5) Caglar Söyüncü

He featured occasionally during his first season at Leicester but Söyüncü has really stepped up under Brendan Rodgers.

As of Christmas Day, the Foxes have conceded just 14 Premier League goals this season and he (along with Jonny Evans) have been central to that.

The Turkey international is all-action, relentless and committed, meaning Harry Maguire is a distant memory.

4) Dejan Kulusevski

Loan spells are usually hit and miss for young players but not for Kulusevski, who has enjoyed a rapid rise on loan at Parma.

The Atalanta-owned playmaker has assisted six Serie A goals this season – second only behind Luis Alberto (11) – even bagging four of his own.

Mixing technical quality with a surprisingly sturdy frame, he could be set for a big money move in January.

3) Eduardo Camavinga

Looking for a midfielder who bossed Paris Saint-Germain at the tender age of 16? Look no further than Camavinga.

The teenager has become a permanent fixture under Rennes manager Julien Stéphan, clocking up a ridiculous 1,425 pre-winter break minutes.

He plays like a midfielder ten years his senior and it’s no surprise that Real Madrid are circling like vultures.

2) Marcus Thuram

Marco Rose has been an inspired managerial appointment but Borussia Mönchengladbach owe a lot of their success to Thuram.

A summer arrival from relegated Guingamp, the French forward has scored six goals and assisted five in 16 Bundesliga appearances this season.

His influence on games can be strangely peripheral and then bang, you’ve been hit by the one-man wrecking ball.

1) Erling Haaland

We’re running out of words for Haaland and we’re pretty convinced that he was created in a lab somewhere.

The 19-year-old has scored 28 goals in 22 appearances this season, including eight in five Champions League appearances – becoming the first ever teenager to net in five consecutive games.

He won’t be at RB Salzburg in February but where will he be? Your guess is as good as ours.
