Everton are currently in 15th place on 14 points after taking seven out of their last 12 possible points to get themselves out of the relegation zone.

Somehow, despite their early struggles, the Toffees are just three points behind fifth-placed Sheffield United in an incredibly congested Premier League table.

After a strong performance against Southampton following a 97th-minute equaliser against Tottenham, Gylfi Sigurðsson believes the time for Everton to move up the table is right now.

“It’s extremely important to build from the Southampton game going forward,” Sigurðsson said.

“It was a strong showing to get the equaliser against Tottenham, followed by three points against Southampton.

“There are some tough games ahead of us. We have Norwich at home next and then four very tough games on the way.

“There’s not much to choose between many of the clubs. It’s time for us to start climbing up the table.

“There are only three points between ourselves and fifth place, which is really amazing considering how things have been with us.

“The league is such that if you put together three results in a row you will jump up four or five places.

“There are lots of games ahead and it’s a fun time when there is little time for training but plenty of games.”

Following the aforementioned tough five-game stretch, Everton will try to take a huge step toward silverware when they host Leicester City in the EFL Cup quarter-finals on 18 December.
