Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum is expecting a tougher test when they travel to face Fulham on Sunday than they got against Bayern Munich in mid-week.

The Reds won 3-1 away at Bayern to book their spot in the Champions League final and now attention turns back to their Premier League title bid.

A win at Craven Cottage will see them leapfrog Manchester City – who were in FA Cup action this weekend – and go top of the table, but they will be up against a Fulham side who are fighting for survival at the bottom.

And Wijnaldum thinks they can take nothing for granted.

“I think it will be even harder at Fulham,” the Dutchman told RTE.

“They are struggling, fighting to survive and that is always difficult to play against, those teams.

“Fulham will make it as difficult as possible and we have to be focused.”

Virgil van Dijk scored a brilliant header from a set-piece at the Allianz Arena and Wijnaldum says it’s an aspect of their game they’ve been working on in recent weeks.

“We can score from set-pieces, from good football, from counter-attacks. We have all different kinds of qualities that can help us score goals,” he told the club’s official website.

“It gives more confidence to the team because it gives us more opportunities to score. In the last few games, we’ve scored a lot with set-pieces – and Virgil is a happy man because he’s scored a few.

“It’s really important and it helps the team, but it doesn’t matter who scores or who plays good, it’s just good if someone scores. It’s always good if more players can score other than the front three to help the team.”
