Genoa centre back Cristian Romero has drawn positive reviews in just his first few months in Italian football.

Higher-ups at Genoa have no problem drumming up those performances in an attempt to push up his perceived market value.

In an interview with Tuttosport, Genoa general manager Giorgio Perinetti admitted that Juventus have edged in front of Inter Milan in the race to sign their defensive starlet.

The 20-year-old joined Genoa this past summer from CA Belgrano in his hometown of Córdoba, Argentina. The youngster earned three bookings in his first two league matches in Italy back in October but since then has adapted very well to life in Serie A.

“Both have shown interest, but at the moment the Bianconeri have proved more concrete: the relations with Juventus are excellent, we have made several successful deals in recent times”.

While his team have just one win in their last 13 league games, the Argentine defender has impressed playing in the middle of a back three under manager Cesare Prandelli.

The Rossoblu paid Belgrano about €1.6m for Romero but are demanding more than €20m to sell the same player the following summer.
