Fresh off their Supercopa do Brasil final victory over Athletico Paranaense, Flamengo are now in search of their second trophy win of the 2020 campaign.
On Monday, Flamengo released their 25-man squad for their trip to Ecuador to face Independiente del Valle in the first leg of the Recopa Sudamericana.
Gabigol and Léo Pereira are the only two absences for the confrontation between last year’s Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana champions.
Gabigol will be serving his one-match suspension for his red card at the end of their Copa Libertadores final victory against River Plate, while Léo Pereira continues to recover from his left thigh injury.
Gustavo Henrique and Rodrigo Caio are largely expected to start at centre-back, while youngsters Matheus Thuler and Matheus Dantas will be ready if needed.
Besides Gabigol and Léo Pereira, Hugo Souza, Rafael Santos, Hugo Moura, Lucas Silva, Pepê and Orlando Berrío were left off the final squad at the decision of the coaching staff.
Flamengo and Independiente del Valle face off this Wednesday in Quito, while the return game is scheduled for the 26th at the Maracanã.
