Frank Lampard has stated that Kepa Arrizabalaga’s is in ‘control of his own destiny’ at Chelsea.

The world’s most expensive goalkeeper has recently been dropped after a run of poor performances.

Kepa conceded 43 goals in 31 games and has the worst save percentage in the Premier League at 51%.

38-year-old Argentinian goalkeeper Willy Caballero has been selected ahead of the 25-year-old for the last four games.

Lampard’s patience had appeared to run out with the former Athletic Bilbao player but he may have offered the Spaniard hope.

Speaking ahead of Tuesday’s FA Cup fifth round clash with Liverpool, the Chelsea head coach commented on Kepa’s future.

“He’s been professional as expected, he’s trained well, kept his head down, supported the team and group,” said Lampard.

“Every player is in control of their destiny in how they train and how they play.

“This is Chelsea and we’re trying to close the gap to the top.

“So there can be no one who is relaxed or loose, we have to push every day.

“Of course we have to look at the group in the summer.

“But there are no decisions beyond the game tomorrow night as far as I’m concerned.”
