The Arbitration Committee of the Paulista Football Federation admitted on Monday that the officiating crew for the Clássico Majestoso missed calls that led to the first two goals of the match – one scored by each team.

Corinthians defeated São Paulo 2-1 in the seventh round of the Campeonato Paulista on Sunday.

Despite the admission, 28-year-old Lucas Belotte will not be punished. The FPF considers Belotte one of the top referees of the new generation.

In the first instance, the referees did not see the ball go over the touch-line during the run of play.

The ball would end up in the back of the net a short time later to give Corinthians a 1-0 lead just before half-time.

On the second occurrence, a foul in the box was not called, and São Paulo would score on the resulting corner.

Although the match had VAR, the IFAB (International Football Association Board) does not allow for those types of decisions to be reviewed.

The protocol only defines four situations that can be reviewed by the VAR: a goal, penalty, direct red card, and for the identification of players for the application of cards.
