After initially struggling following his summer 2017 move from Aberdeen, Celtic full-back Jonny Hayes has been more than adequate and Neil Lennon is hoping to extend his current deal.
However, Hayes and Celtic have yet to agree to fresh terms and with the first of January coming, where clubs can open pre-contract talks, the Hoops now risk losing the reliable 32-year-old on a free.
According to the Daily Record, Championship sides Preston, Middlesbrough, Stoke and Cardiff are all interested in landing Hayes on a Bosman deal.
Manager Neil Lennon stated two weeks ago that he was expecting the club to engage in contract talks with the Ireland international but it appears that very little, if anything, has transpired since then.
Hayes has admitted in the past that while he’s keen to remain at Celtic, he would consider giving it another go in England.
Hayes has made just seven Championship appearances, all of those coming with Leicester City back in 2007.
