“When I was president of the club (from 2008-11), I received an offer from Corinthians. He looked me in the eye and said he did not want to leave because his desire was to stay with us.”

In 2013, Boca Juniors faced off against Corinthians in the Copa Libertadores round-of-16. Riquelme would score one of the best goals of his career, hitting a 40-yard effort over the head of Cassio en route to a 2-1 aggregate victory.
