Former Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has endorsed rivals Real Madrid to win LaLiga this season.
Though the Blaugrana have lifted eight of the last 11 league trophies, they have looked shaky under new boss Quique Setién while Los Blancos have won their last five LaLiga contests.
“Madrid are strong and very focused on LaLiga,” Valverde said when asked who was going to win the league at the Bilbao International Football Summit.
Valverde also admitted he has not watched much football since being let go by the Catalans after falling 3-2 to Atlético Madrid in last month’s Supercopa de España semi-finals.
“I haven’t seen much football in these past weeks, the only match I’ve seen in full was Athletic Club and Barcelona in the Copa del Rey.
“I have tried to put a little distance between myself and football.
“When you are at a club you move at 200 miles per hour, then all of a sudden you stop moving, it’s always hard to see the team you have coached recently when you’re trying to build distance.”
Real Madrid currently have a three-point lead over Barcelona with 15 games remaining.
