Agustín Marchesín has said he will deserve a medal if América win the upcoming Apertura final against Monterrey.

The Argentinian goalkeeper made the claim despite having left Las Aguilas to join Porto back in July.

“I deserve it, I started the championship. The first points were the most important because the team was on the rise. So, I think, I deserve it,” the 31-year-old stopper told Fox Sports.

If América succeed and Marchesín gets his medal, it would mark his second title with the Mexico City club after collecting the Apertura silverware in 2018.

Despite his summer move to Portugal, Marchesín insists he still has a great fondness for his previous club.

“I took a great love for people, a club that has given me everything,” he said of the Azulcrema.
