During the seventh minute of Chivas’ 2-1 loss against Cruz Azul over the weekend, Jesús Angulo fell in the vicinity of the Cruz Azul area due to a stomp from Luis Romo.
There was no whistle on the pitch and during the continuation of the play, Jonathan Rodríguez opened the scoring at the Estadio Akron.
After the controversy, VAR was used by referee Adonai Escobedo Gonzalez, who ruled that there was no infraction and said the goal was valid.

During the analysis of the day conducted by the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) on their official Twitter account @FMF, president of the Referees Committee, Arturo Brizio, admitted that the error must be sanctioned.
“The officials must mark the foul. This constitutes an officiating error,” said the former referee.
With their latest defeat, Chivas now sit in 13th place after six matchdays on six points. They will continue to look for their second win in 2020 when they travel to face Xolos on Friday.
