Paulo Henrique Ganso landed in Rio de Janeiro and walked into the welcoming arms of Fluminense supporters.
On Sunday evening, the attacking midfielder arrived at the airport in Rio sporting a Fluminense shirt and flanked by security guards.
With about 150 Flu supports serenading him on his arrival, Ganso spoke to the media that had assembled.
“I want to do my job well to make this whole crowd happy. This wonderful reception, I have to get on the field and do my best to provide happiness.”
“I’ve been training for a long time, so now it just depends on Fernando Diniz,” he said about the Fluminense manager.
“There is nothing better. It’s too wonderful. I’m so damn happy,” the 29-year-old play-maker said.
“Criticism will always come, but it is more important to be happy doing my work. This reception was marvelous.”
Ganso signed a five-year contract with Fluminense and the official presentation will be on Tuesday at the Maracanã.
The Tricolor will be fifth club in his career after Santos and São Paulo in Brazil, Sevilla in Spain, and Amiens in France.
Fluminense will play Ríver Atlético Clube in the Copa do Brasil on Tuesday evening.
