After breaking record after record, Flamengo will soon head to Qatar for the Club World Cup in search of their fourth trophy of 2019 and South America’s first world title since Corinthians defeated Chelsea 1-0 in 2012.
On Wednesday, Flamengo announced their 23-man squad for the tournament, which provided no surprises whatsoever.
Flamengo will enter the semi-final round, where they will take on the winner of Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal and Tunisia’s Espérance on 17 December in Doha.
Supporters are anticipating a re-match of the 1981 Club World Cup final, when Flamengo defeated Liverpool 3-0 in Tokyo, Japan, though Liverpool will first have to get by either Mexico’s Monterrey, Qatar’s Al-Sadd, or New Caledonia’s Hienghène Sport.
