📝Flamengo 1-0 Eintracht Frankfurt: Brazilians win Florida Cup 2019

Jean Lucas scored the ultimate match-winner in the first half after a red card to the German side as Flamengo won the Florida Cup

The lone goal from Jean Lucas was enough for Flamengo to defeat the German side and win the exhibition tournament in southern Florida.

Flamengo, under the guidance of Abel Braga, and Adi Hütter’s Eintracht Frankfurt met in Orlando City Stadium for Florida Cup 2019.

A shot from Ante Rebić in the 14th minute just slipped over the frame of César’s goal but had the Brazilian side worried.

Eintracht Frankfurt defender David Abraham appeared to lose the plot early on and earned a straight red card in the 25th minute.

The 32-year-old Argentine centre back certainly did not win himself many friends back in the locker room as the German side faced down over an hour a player short.

Five minutes before half-time Flamengo made their breakthrough. 20-year-old midfielder Jean Lucas scored his first goal for the senior team, though this is just a pre-season tournament.

The academy graduate played 890 minutes across 23 appearances in all competitions for the rubro-negro in 2018 and looks set to notch his first goal as a professional this year.

After the intermission, the Flamengo had a number of chances to increase their lead but failed to make them count. Even after introducing more experienced players like Willian Arão, Éverton Ribeiro, and Fernando Uribe the team from Rio de Janeiro could not score a second goal.

Even with misses from Vitinho and Éverton in the final five minutes, Flamengo still finished winners in the match and the short pre-season tournament.

Ajax finished in second place with four points. Frankfurt finished in third place on three points. São Paulo did not score and did not earn a point.
