Liverpool have been given boosts over the fitness of centre-back pairing Dejan Lovren and Joe Gomez.

Both players were thought to be doubts for the Champions League semi-final against Roma next week but the duo have returned to training and could be intention for the first leg at Anfield.

Lovren limped off in the closing minutes of the Reds 3-0 win over Bournemouth at the weekend, with initial reports suggesting he may have pulled a muscle.

However, the Croatian defender was back amongst his team-mates on Tuesday and looks set to be fit for the match with the Giallorossi.

Gomez, meanwhile, has been on the sidelines for four weeks now, having damaged ankle ligaments in England’s friendly with the Netherlands in March.

The 20-year-old was passed fit by the physiotherapists at Melwood and should start return to full training this week.
