Leicester City defender Filip Benković has admitted he doesn’t know yet if his future lies at the King Power Stadium next season.

He arrived from Dinamo Zagreb for a fee in the region of £13m last August but was quickly loaned out to Celtic, where he enjoyed a very successful season.

Having established himself as a popular figure en route to a treble success, Benković admitted he could be tempted into a Parkhead return.

However, his future remains in the hands of Brendan Rodgers, the man who brought him north of the border and who is now in charge at Leicester.

“We’ll have to wait and see what happens in the summer and what the plan is for me next season,” he said, as quoted by the Scottish Herald.

“We’ve spoken a little bit about what will happen but not too much as I was mostly concentrating on Celtic.

“I wouldn’t rule out coming back and you never know where life will take you. I don’t know what will happen but I’ve enjoyed it here.”

Earlier this month, Rodgers did hint that the Croatian’s future may lie away from the Foxes again next year and likely at his old stomping ground.

“Filip’s situation is one I have to look at. There’s no doubt if I want him to go out on loan again, I want him to go to Celtic,” the Irishman stated, per the Daily Record.

“I think he’s a big talent and I’ll have a conversation with him soon but we already have four centre-backs with big experience in Jonny Evans, Harry Maguire, Wes Morgan and Çağlar Söyüncü.”

Benković made 26 appearances in all competitions during his spell on loan in Glasgow.
