Cesc Fàbregas has claimed that he was forced to leave Chelsea due to Maurizio Sarri treating Jorginho ‘like his son’.
Sarri demanded the signing of Jorginho following his appointment last summer, pushing Fábregas further down the pecking order.
The 31-year-old had the opportunity to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge, but insists a fresh start was better for all parties.
“I like to have new objectives,” he told reporters. “All the time for me it’s important to have a new objective in my head.
“I was at Chelsea and I could have renewed my contract, but a new coach came in with a player that was like his son.
“It was difficult to play every single game and that’s what I want to do. I love football. There was life beyond Chelsea.
“For whatever reason it was impossible for me even if I was better, or someone else is better, to play every match.”
The Blues travel to Anfield on Sunday as they hope to strengthen their chances of a top four finish.
