Following Manchester United and Real Madrid’s decisions to enter women’s teams in the professional game, the pressure is on for some of Germany’s biggest clubs to do the same.

Borussia Dortmund and Schalke are now arguably Europe’s two most prestigious clubs not to have a women’s team.

Speaking exclusively to Onefootball at the launch of Puma’s new Future 5.1 boots, Germany and Lyon star Dzsenifer Marozsán confessed that playing for one of the two is an option she wishes was available to her.

“I don’t know what the problem is [with Dortmund and Schalke not having women’s teams],” Marozsán stated.

“But I can just say that there are a lot of girls who want to play football for Dortmund or Schalke.

“They are traditional clubs and they just have to take the risk. They are in a position to do it because they are big clubs.

“So I hope that in the future I will be able to read that we have new clubs in the Bundesliga.”

Germany national team captain Alexandra Popp recently admitted that she’d relish the opportunity to represent BVB, the team she supported growing up.

There is a Dortmund link for Marozsán too, who shares her new Puma boots with the men’s side’s main man.

“Marco Reus wears the same boots as me and I think he also suits the [fast, agile, attacking] style,” added Marozsán.

“The boots are really light and comfortable, which is important for me when being out on the pitch.

“My game is a very creative one and it gives me such a good feeling to be in these boots.”

Marozsán has won every club honour available to her in the game in a successful spell at Lyon but revealed that even after 13 consecutive domestic titles, motivation isn’t a problem.

That said, she is keeping a watchful eye on the developing situation in Spain’s capital, where Real Madrid’s female side will come into being next season.

“It sounds really crazy that we win so much but I train every day with the girls and even in training, it is all about competition,” she concluded.

“They want to win all the time and I guess that’s our key to wanting to win every day.

“But if I had to pick a team in Spain, I love Real Madrid so I would go for them.”
