“I find it a very difficult scenario,” added Cascatino You come up against a team [Sheffield United] that are a complete contradiction of what Everton are about, players that want to prove themselves at the top level and a manager [Chris Wilder] who is quite outspoken.”

According to the 57-year-old, Silva has not spend wisely in the transfer market since his appointment last summer, and has also made some questionable team selections.

“The massive difference between David Moyes and Marco Silva is that David Moyes didn’t have any money, even close to what Marco Silva’s had,” he added. “Have Everton really got the luxury to spend £30m and have Alex Iwobi as a substitute? I find that really weird.”

Everton are currenlty in 14th place in the Premier League standings with seven points, boasting a 2-1-3 (W-D-L) record.
