Both Enzo Pérez and Juan Quintero have returned to River Plate after participating in the World Cup.
However, neither player has logged official minutes with the club.
It is not easy to explain the reason why neither Enzo Pérez nor Juan Quintero has seen the pitch. Both players, like goalkeeper Franco Armani, joined later than their teammates due to their time in Russia, but their absence in River’s Copa Argentina fixtures against lower-league Dálmine and Central Norte has fans worried.
Manager Marcelo Gallardo should be able to count on them for their Copa Libertadores round-of-16 match against Racing in nine days. Although, without any match experience with the club this summer, Gallardo may hesitate to include them in the starting XI.
The two players have garnered the interest of several teams in Europe, due to their fantastic displays at the World Cup.
Enzo Pérez is on Sporting’s radar, while Quintero has attracted the likes of Real Madrid and Tottenham after he scored a memorable free kick against Japan and assisted on two goals for Colombia.
