Paris Saint-Germain boss Unai Emery has strongly denied rumours Neymar wishes he’d never left Barcelona and says the Brazilian is fully committed to the Ligue 1 giants.

Various outlets in Spain reported over the weekend that the world’s most expensive footballer is unhappy with Emery’s coaching methods and pines for his old life back in Barcelona.

Catalan TV station La Porteria tweeted: “La Porteria understands that the Brazilian regrets having left Barça and misses his life in Barcelona.

“The player is unhappy with Emery and his methods. The player’s environment does not feel comfortable in Paris either.”

However, speaking ahead of Les Parisien’s Champions League fixture against Anderlecht on Tuesday, Emery dismissed suggestions the player who has so far scored 10 goals in 11 appearances is in any way unsettled at his new club.

“When we went to sign him, he showed the desire and the motivation to work as part of a team at PSG,” Emery told reporters.

“He has all the capacity and time to adapt to a team that also has a lot of talent. “He still has the ambition to develop and reach a higher level, and he will do it by fulfilling individual and collective goals.”

Neymar was involved in a minor training ground bust-up with Emery last week and one of the reasons for the player’s supposed unhappiness is Emery’s penchant for long video analysis sessions, a report the Basque coach categorically refutes.

“Every player who has arrived this summer goes through the same process, adaptation exists for everyone and is normal,” Emery insisted.

“He chose PSG because he thinks that together we are best suited to triumph in the future.

“Regarding my method of working, he is attentive and sits at the front during video sessions. Every player knows how important [the sessions] are.

“If not, the players would tell me. I do not know of a coach who does not use video analysis. It is a very important part of modern football.”
