The political and social problems of Nicaragua could have an impact on the Argentine National Team.

Nicaragua is striving to overcome the after-effects of dictatorship, civil war and natural calamities, which have left it one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere.

The death toll from a week of brutally repressed anti-government protests in Nicaragua has risen to at least 34.

It was planned that the Albiceleste would say goodbye to their fans in front of Los Pinoleros on 29 May at La Bombonera. However, the AFA seeks a second opponent in case it doesn’t make sense to host them.

Jamaica and Haiti are rumoured to be the front-runners to replace Nicaragua. The Argentines have defeated both Jamaica and Haiti in all their meetings.

For now, there is nothing concrete and the Nicaraguan Football Federation has yet to provide an update.
