Former Arsenal midfielder Edu has expressed an interest in taking over as the club’s technical director.

That is a position that he currently holds with the Brazil national team and has caught his old club’s attention.

Although Edu admitted that it is an avenue he would like to explore, he was adamant that he wouldn’t even consider it until after the Copa America.

“I have had a conversation with Arsenal and there is an interest,” the 40-year-old Brazilian television programme NO AR, as reported Football.London.

“I was very clear. I’m 100% focused on the Copa America and I’m not speaking about anything because of that tournament.

“If there is a chance that [Arsenal] want to speak to me and propose something after the Copa, I’ll make myself available so we can talk.”

Brazil host this summer’s Copa America from 14 June until 7 July.

The Brazilian represented Arsenal for four years from 2001 until 2005 and won two Premier League titles and two FA Cups
