In an interview with Univision, Álvarez confirmed that his dream European move is nearly a reality.

“The possibilities are there. I am very happy to be closer and closer to that dream that I long for with all my heart and I hope it is the best for me.”

Álvarez also revealed that he tried to force his way back into the squad for the Liguilla. Unfortunately, the 21-year-old could not get over an injury and América bowed out in the semi-finals against top-seeded León.

Álvare is now set to make his departure to Europe official at the conclusion of the Gold Cup.
