Borussia Dortmund have told Manchester United they must shell out a whopping £100m if they want to buy Jadon Sancho in the summer.

Sancho joined Dortmund from United’s fierce local rivals Manchester City for just £7m in the summer of 2017.

But the 18-year-old has emerged as one of the most exciting young talents in world football this season, contributing an impressive seven goals and nine assists to BVB’s Bundesliga title challenge.

According to the Daily Mirror, United will be in the market for a new winger in the summer and have earmarked the England international as their prime target.

But if they want to sign him, they will have to surpass the £86m Real Madrid paid Tottenham for Gareth Bale in 2013, which is still the record transfer fee for a British player.

And Sancho moving to Old Trafford could also depend on whether Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side qualify for next season’s Champions League.

The tricky wide-man is almost guaranteed Champions League football next term if he stays at the Westfalenstadion, while United are currently fourth in the Premier League and just one point ahead of fifth-placed Arsenal.

Sancho is under contract until 2022 and his former club Manchester City reportedly have the option to match any successful transfer bid Dortmund receive for his services.
