Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc took encouragement from the team’s win on Saturday.

Lucien Favre’s team played over a half with 10 men after Mats Hummels was booked twice against Hertha BSC.

They stood firm, though, and claimed a 2-1 win to quieten reports that Favre is on the verge of losing his job.

“We always say that the work between the coach and the team is very good,” Zorc told reporters after the match.

“You could see that on the pitch today.

“If it wasn’t the case, you can’t play like that. Not everyone would give such a committed performance for the team.

“That’s why we’re convinced we can reverse the trend. It was an important step in the right direction.”

The win leaves Dortmund five points from the Bundesliga summit and just a point adrift of reigning champions Bayern Munich.
