Diego Costa and Álvaro Morata have not enjoyed the best of seasons so far for Atlético Madrid.
Their coach, Diego Simeone, is all too aware of that fact, which may come under greater scrutiny given João Félix’s injury.
But he is also confident they can play themselves out of their funk if they follow his mantra of working themselves tirelessly.
“It is hard to give advice to players of such a stature,” Simeone told reporters after his side’s 1-1 draw with Valencia on Saturday.
“They are in complicated runs of form at the moment.
“But the way out of that is to work and to persist and be a little simpler in their play.
“Surely one will bounce off their knee and go in soon but people do always look for culprits.
“The only solutions in these situations is to work, work and work some more.”
In nine LaLiga games this season, the profligate pair have combined for just three goals so far, with one of those coming from the penalty spot.
