Dean Smith will reportedly push for a reunion with Neal Maupay at Aston Villa this summer.
Smith signed Maupay for Brentford from Saint-Étienne in 2017, where he has since gone on to score 42 goals in 96 appearances.
According to Mirror Football, Villa have been monitoring the 22-year-old since January and are keen to secure his signature for next season.
Tammy Abraham – scorer of 24 Championship goals this season – is unlikely to remain at Villa Park after Chelsea were hit with a transfer ban by Fifa.
The French striker is seen as the perfect replacement for Abraham, who could add depth with Scott Hogan also set to depart.
Maupay is contracted with Brentford until 2021 who are expected to demand €20m for his services.
