Aston Villa supporters were mystified as they watched their side recover from a 3-0 deficit after the 80th minute to earn a stunning 3-3 draw after Billy Sharp’s hat-trick put Sheffield United comfortably ahead.
Andre Green’s 94th-minute equaliser will live long in the memory, but some fans were bemused after their newest loan signing, Tom Carroll, did not feature.
On Monday, manager Dean Smith revealed why the Swansea midfielder missed out.
“He got a slight strain in training the other day so he’s missed the last few days, he’ll probably be back in 10 days or so,” said Smith.
With that logic, it is fair to say that Carroll won’t travel to Brentford, nor will he face West Brom at the weekend.
He will be in contention to make the trip to Stoke next Saturday, 23 February.
