Davide Nicola resigns as Crotone manager

Davide Nicola has resigned just six months after saving Crotone from relegation.

The 44-year-old helped perform a miraculous escape last season, winning six of the final nine games of the Serie A campaign to finish just two points clear of the relegation zone.

After four consecutive defeats, however, Nicola has decided to depart.

Reports cite an irreparable break with the club’s leaders as the reason for the resignation, with Nicola reportedly telling his player on Tuesday that he would resign.

Crotone are currently 16th in Serie A after picking up 12 points from the opening 15 games of the season.
