David Moyes has said West Ham are still interested in buying players this January, but that they will only bring in better than they already have.

The Hammers drew 1-1 at home to Everton on Saturday, a result which left them in 16th place in the Premier League table and just one point above the relegation zone.

Moyes accepted that attracting quality additions is particularly difficult in the January window, but insisted that he won’t bring in players for the sake of it.

“I don’t want to bring in a player where people are going to turn around and think, ‘he’s another one who’s not going to have any impact on the team’,” Moyes told Sky Sports.

“He has to be a player who can have an impact on the team now, or he has to be a player who we feel we can have for the next five years who is going to develop into a top player.

“To sign a player who is in between that – a top player, who is in a Premier League’s first team, it’s really difficult. What I don’t want is to sign any cast-offs.”

The East London outfit face a tricky trip to face high-flying Leicester City on Wednesday.
