Finally some positive news for Manchester United!
There has been a breakthrough in talks to extend David De Gea’s contract, according to the Mirror.
The report claims talks have progressed well between the goalkeeper’s agent, Jorge Mendes, and the club.
A new £350,000-a-week deal running to 2024 is on the table and De Gea is set to sign it.
There is just one season remaining on De Gea’s current £200,000-a-week contract and United have been nervous to ward off interest from the likes of Paris Saint-Germain.
Though the club are reportedly determined not to sell the Spaniard this summer, the failure to agree a new contract would force them into a decision.
It does, however, seem likely that the 28-year-old will carry on at Old Trafford.
De Gea struggled for form last year but has been named the club’s player of the season on four occasions.
