Danny Ings 'working hard' to keep his purple patch going | OneFootball

Danny Ings has admitted that he is in one of the most productive periods of his career and is hoping to continue his good run of form against Norwich on Wednesday.

Ings has netted seven goals in 14 appearances so far this season, including one in the Saints comeback win over Norwich at the weekend.

After two horror knee injuries in recent seasons it’s just good to see the 27-year-old on a pitch at all, but the forward has been backing up great performances with lethal finishes.

When asked by the Southern Echo if this is his best period of form in a while, Ings responded: “For a while, it definitely is.

“It’s a form that every striker wants to build on and I always want more.

“I’m working as hard as I can every day on finishing and the small-sided games in training to try and get better and better.”

Despite his impressive haul, Ings says he would be happy not scoring if it meant Saints were to get three points against Norwich tomorrow night.

“It’s a mindset of doing everything I can for the team,” the ex-Liverpool striker added.

“Off the ball, I’m trying to close down defenders and goalkeepers.

“With the ball, it’s important for me to put it in the net and if I give myself the best chance of that then I know goals are going to come.

“But the most important thing is the win.

“If I come off the pitch and haven’t scored but we’ve got three points then I’m over the moon.

“That’s the way it is. We are all here to help each other and to win games together.”
