Danny Drinkwater: 'It was killing me' | OneFootball

It’s been a long wait for Chelsea’s Danny Drinkwater.

First he had to wait all summer for his move from Leicester City to go through.

When it did, the midfielder was injured and had to wait almost two more months for his Blues debut, which came on Wednesday against Everton.

“I don’t think [the last few months] could have gone any worse,” Drinkwater told Chelsea TV after finally appearing for the club.

“I have been trying to take the positives out of it. My calf feels good now but I was massively frustrated. The waiting game was killing me.

“It’s been good to watch the team and it has helped me to settle in as well. It has given me a feel for how they actually play. But the sooner I can get more involved now, the better for me.”

Chelsea are currently without midfielder N’Golo Kanté and had to begin the campaign without new signing Tiémoué Bakayoko as well as Drinkwater.

Finally, Antonio Conte’s squad is starting to look a little bigger.
