After being heavily linked with Chelsea last summer, reports out of Italy suggest Daniele Rugani could remain with Juventus for a lot longer than originally expected.

According to Italian outlet SMS, Rugani is set to pen a contract extension that would nearly double his current wage.

Though it is not necessarily clear how long his renewed contract would keep him in Turin for, the report says that Rugani would see his salary jump from over €1.6m to over €3m per season plus bonuses.

Last summer, Leonardo Bonucci returned to Juventus, with the Old Lady giving up Mattia Caldara and loaning out Gonzalo Higuaín in exchange.

With Juve willing to get rid of just one of either Caldara or Rugani, it was the 24 year old who stayed put.
