Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly throws toys out the Real Madrid pram again

We have seen this saga before.

Spanish sports programme El chiringuito de Jugones had dropped what they are calling a massive world exclusive.

Yep, Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly wants to leave Real Madrid. Again.

Over hilariously dramatic music and camera work, Spanish journalist Edu Aguirre announced on the programme that the Portuguese star has decided to leave the club next summer.

Aguirre claims that Ronaldo is upset with the lack of appreciation that he sees in Madrid’s latest contract offer. He apparently rejected the proposal and insisted that he will depart in the summer.

His anger has been amplified by the club’s refusal to grant him his wish and let him leave, according to the report. The Madrid hierarchy are said to have told the player that he will not be allowed to go, potentially setting up an epic power struggle between Europe’s most successful club and the reigning Ballon d’Or winner.

Ronaldo has, of course, flirted with leaving the Bernabéu before, most notably last summer following inquiries into his potential tax evasion. Ultimately, however, the marriage has proved too fruitful for either party to annul, with both player and club enjoying incredible success in recent years.

With Ronaldo’s dip in form and Madrid currently struggling to match the heights of the past few seasons, the relationship may face its greatest test yet.

Or, this could all just be Jorge Mendes — Ronaldo’s agent — playing games in an effort to extract more cash from the Spanish champions.

Time will tell.
