President Andres Sanchez said in an interview with SporTV that midfielder Ángel Romero does not want to renew his contract with Corinthians.

The 14-time Paraguayan international has played in over 200 matches for Timão since his arrival from Cerro Porteño in 2014, however, it appears he will leave when his contract expires in July.

“Romero does not want to renew,” Sanchez said.

“It’s his right. You do not have to call him a mercenary, you do not have to be angry with him, you do not have to.

“The player’s agents are not to blame.”

According to the Corinthians president, the reason the Paraguayan does not want to renew with Timão is financial.

The 26-year-old expects for other teams to offer much more than Corinthians are able to.
