Corinthians football director Duilio Monteiro Alves traveled to Spain to try to finally close the negotiation with Sevilla over former Timão left-back Guilherme Arana.
UOL Sport reports that Corinthians have agreed to pay €8m for 90 per cent of the economic rights for Arana.
Sevilla, however, are requiring the Brazilian club to pay a significant down payment. The rest of the fee will be paid in installments.
According to the publication, Corinthians has the money to sign Guilherme Arana, though they hope to pay in a more conservative way because they believe the board will need to reinforce the club throughout the season.
Sevilla coach Pablo Machín did not include Guilherme Arana in the squad for the first leg of their Europa League round-of-16 clash with Slavia Prague.
