On Friday, the FIFA General Assembly in Rwanda have approved plans for Copa América to move to even years.

Copa América usually takes place in odd years, with the next tournament occurring in the summer of 2019 in Brazil.

However, CONMEBOL requested to move the competition to even years. As a result, there will be a Copa América again in 2020, before returning to the previous schedule of one tournament every four years.

The only other time the Copa América had previously taken place at the same time as the European Championships was 2016, when a centenary edition of the tournament took place in the Americas.
