At the beginning of the month, we were talking about the possibility of an América Copa MX – Liga MX double that would give them three trophies in succession.
Now, with just two games to play, América will be fortunate if they make the Liguilla.
The Eagles are currently in seventh place, just one point above ninth-placed Xolos, after picking up just one point of a possible nine in their last three games.
In their two losses, against Xolos and Toluca, they allowed three goals in each contest.
In fact, in five of América’s six losses in the 2019 Clausura, they have allowed three goals.
América have actually 19 goals this season, which is actually more than Chivas!
América conclude this season with games against Santos Laguna and Veracruz and with Santos also fighting for their place in the Liguilla, their place in the play-offs is anything but guaranteed.
