While their focus may be on continental competition for the moment, Miguel Herrera cannot forget to follow a certain Liga MX rule, otherwise, América will be docked three points at the end of the regular season.

Rule 20/11 states that a minimum of 1,000 total minutes of Liga MX football must be allocated to players under the age of 20 years and 11 months (with a maximum of 270 minutes in one game).

So far, América have only accumulated a total of 192 minutes with 11 matches remaining – with Haret Ortega playing 182 minutes while Román Arturo Martínez has featured 10 minutes this season.

The application of the rule is meant to promote the careers of young players by improving their basic skills and giving them the confidence and opportunity to debut at an early age.
