After one year at Zenit, following his exit from Juventus, Claudio Marchisio now finds himself a free agent.

Though the 33-year-old was offered a chance to play at Rangers by Steven Gerrard, Marchisio reportedly turned down the offer back in July.

Instead, Gerrard splashed for a number of midfield options and now has Steven Davis, Ryan Jack, Joe Aribo, Glen Kamara, Greg Docherty, Andy King, and Scott Arfield at his disposal.

Despite adding Ryan Kent as the club’s second-most expensive signing in Rangers history, it’s believed Marchisio still could have been added as a Deadline Day deal.

The 55-time Italy international was released from his two-year deal with Zenit after making just 15 appearances for the club.
