Leicester manager Claude Puel admits he has held talks with Kasper Schmeichel after father Peter suggested he was considering his future.

The former Manchester United stopper said the Foxes “did not have a manager to get the best out of the team” and suggested Kasper wanted to leave.

However, Puel has poured water over those claims and insists the 32-year-old is happy to stay after clear-the-air conversations.

“I have had a discussion with Kasper, not just about this but different things,” he told Talksport.

“Kasper is happy to play with Leicester and extended his contract a few months ago.

“He understands the project and what we are trying to put in place. This is the most important thing for us.”

“Kasper is our captain with Wes (Morgan). He’s always had a good impact and influence on the team.

“I was happy about our discussion because I know I can count on him because he understands the project and where we are at this moment.

“He is happy to continue this project.”
