Chelsea will reportedly wait to asses the fitness of Antonio Rüdiger before green-lighting a January move for Bournemouth defender Nathan Aké.

Central defence is an area of concern for manager Frank Lampard, who is yet to find a settled partnership four months into the season.

According to Telegraph Sport, Chelsea negotiated a ‘first refusal’ option after selling him in 2017, that will allow them to re-sign the defender for €45m.

It’s understood the club will have around €150m to spend after their two-window transfer ban was upheld by CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport) on Thursday.

However, any potential move has been complicated by Aké suffering a hamstring injury against Liverpool on Sunday which was deemed ‘serious’ by Eddie Howe.

Olivier Giroud is also expected to leave the club with just six months left on his contract.
