Chelsea are reportedly ready to pay Derby £4m in compensation to secure Frank Lampard as their new manager.
Maurizio Sarri is expected to join Juventus next week, despite securing a third place finish and Europa League title.
According to Telegraph Sport, the Blues’ hierarchy have been impressed with Lampard’s work in the Championship and believe he can unite the fans once again.
He would also be welcomed by the players, with youngsters set to be involved following their two-window transfer ban.
The report claims that Derby are ‘already resigned’ to losing Lampard and are already searching for his potential successor.
Recently retired goalkeeper Petr Čech will also be named technical director at Stamford Bridge.
