Chelsea are reportedly increasingly confident that they can sign Gonzalo Higuaín this month.

The AC Milan forward was left out of the Rossoneri’s starting XI for their Italian Super Cup clash with Juventus on Wednesday evening.

And now a story in the Guardian has insisted that the Blues believe they will land the goalscorer this month.

Higuaín’s relationship with the Milan board has become strained after his form disappeared post-October.

The former Napoli man has scored just once since that time, and it’s believed that the San Siro outfit will look to strike a deal with the west London club before the window shuts on January 31.

Higuaín is believed to be desperate to work with Maurizio Sarri again after they broke records together at the Partenopei and will push for a move in the coming days.
